Puppet Project

Puppet Project

For my puppet project, I took inspiration from my Christmas observation project.

Studying my grandfather and his influence on our community. Along with this, the play on the 'grandfather' clock figure leant itself nicely to the study.

W hen creating the dimensions and creating my puppet, I had to design him in a way different to the other puppets which hindered his mobility and expressions in the long run I feel.

After setting and baking sculpie around the tinfoil and wire skeleton, I was able to use a drill to add removable arms to the armature to compensate for the lack of expression from the other parts of the character.

When designing my set, I was going for a more clinical look from an elderly home perspective as the secondary character to my puppet is primarily there to serve the narrative of my character being an escort to the after life. Very much leaning into the 'Father time' character as inspiration as well.

The furniture is made from wood and held together with small nails to be able to keep the size consistent with the rest of the set and characters, especially the elderly woman character.

Overall I am happy with the outcome of mu character design and how the set interacts with the other components to support the narrative.
